FAQs

SkinPen is a form of collagen induction therapy (CIT) or microneedling. SkinPen creates hundreds to thousands of ‘micro’ skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin’s natural wound healing process—inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling—to prompt tissue remodelling without causing scar tissue formation.

SkinPen is useful in the improvement of acne scarring, surgical scars, fine line, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and enlarged pores.

By stimulating the skins collagen production, SkinPen can improve the appearance of dull, uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of acne and surgical scars.

One of the benefits of SkinPen is it’s minimal downtime. Most patients skin will appear slightly pink or red immediately post procedure but resolves within 24–48 hours.

Most patients will feel a mild vibrating sensation during the procedure. Prior to your SkinPen treatment, our aesthetic nurses will apply topical local anaesthetic to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

SkinPen should not be used on patients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s); open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s); an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a bleeding disorder or dysfunction; are pregnant or breastfeeding; or are currently taking medications with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane).

Our team of aesthetic Nurses will provide a treatment plan designed specifically for your skin needs, however typically, patients require 3-6 treatments for optimal results.
